Lohia Starlinger Limited incorporated in 1981 is engaged in the manufacturing of machines for the Flexible Packaging Industry and also for the Synthetic Textile Industry. Its expertise has been proven outside India that it is bringing the knowledge to the industry in coming Chinaplas 2004.

Based in Kanpur, India, Lohia Starlinger Limited (LSL) has state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in its various divisions and is also proud of a well-equipped R&D division recognised by the Department of Science and Technology of Government of India.

The company has a large manufacturing base wherein many of the critical items are manufactured in-house while some key components are sourced from the best known quality houses around the world.

LSL started manufacture of Circular Weaving Machines, for manufacture of plastic woven sacks, in 1983. Today Lohia looms have become the bench-mark for the woven sack industry in India and they are undisputed market leaders in the country with over 65% market share. The looms have also gained a wide acceptance in exports and today circular weaving machines and extrusion tape lines are present in over 35 countries world wide.

The range of circular weaving machines starts from 2 shuttle LENO machines for open mesh weaving used for packing perishable fruits and vegetables to the 8 shuttle looms for manufacture of fabric for FIBC's popularly known as Jumbo bags and for making wide width tarpaulin fabric. The standard 4 shuttle LSL4 looms and 6 shuttle LSL6 looms are widely used for packing of core sector products like cement, fertilizer etc. The looms are available in mechanical and electronic versions to suit the needs of different markets.

The extrusion lines are manufactured in various models varying from 150 kg/hour to 600kg/hour melt capacity and can handle wide range of deniers and tape widths. The machines can process tapes for various end uses viz woven sacks, carpet backing, fibrillated tapes for sewing and FIBC bags etc. Even in developed countries solutions have been found for Technical Tape applications.

The extrusion machinery is complemented by a new generation of electronic control, inverter driven tape winders suitable for circular looms (with small cores/bobbins) and flat looms (with bigger cores/bobbins). These winders are suitable for high speeds, are very energy efficient, and the quality of winding is improved to help improve the weaving performance.

Here again these machines have established the company as leaders and not just pioneers serving the woven sack industry. The company's trained manpower has the capability and proven expertise to set up turn key projects of woven sack industry in and outside India.

In 2003, LSL embarked on the project to develop a Polypropylene Multifilament Yarn Extrusion Machine. The product capitalized on the vast extrusion machinery experience available, and the experience and knowledge of multifilament yarns. The machine is very versatile and can be used for technical and textile applications.
